You recently read an article in a newspaper about your childhood friend with whom you have lost contact for a long time.

Write a letter to the editor. In your letter:

Say which edition and when did the article appear

- Explain why you lost contact with your friend

- Say how you want them to help you to get back in touch

Dear Sir,

I stumbled upon an article in the Sunday edition of your esteemed newspaper that shared opinions of people about working from home during the pandemic. I was overjoyed to see the views given by my long lost friend,Karthik: I recognized him from his name and picture shared just below the content. I request you to kindly share his details with me.

Kartik and I were good friends in school, but lost contact after his family moved to Bangalore. Since then, I have tried rigorously to get in touch with him, but without success, and I am sure he must have tried too. Nevertheless, I am thankful to your newspaper for publishing his view, as I got to hear about him after 6 long years. Since you have published his thoughts in the Delhi edition of the newspaper, I am sure he is in the same city and I am eager to meet him.

Thus, I would request you to kindly make this reunion possible.

Hoping for a compassionate response.

Thanking You

Narendra

You borrowed an important textbook from a classmate last term

You borrowed an important textbook from a classmate last term. You now realize your classmate had returned home overseas and you still have the book. Write a letter to him / her. In your letter:

 apologize for the mistake

· find out how important the book is to him / her

· say what you will do

Dear Elie,

I hope this letter finds you in a healthy spirit. My heartfelt apologies for not returning the Graph Theory book that you lent me last semester. Recently I got to know that your younger brother is entering into university this year and I assume that he might need the book. Without causing any further inconvenience to you, I wish to return it.

This book helped me a lot in preparing my presentation on Graph colouring. After the presentation, I was occupied with exam preparation and completely forgot to hand it back. Now, when I got to know your brother has enrolled in the University, I thought that it will be useful to him. Do let me know if I need to send it on an urgent basis, or should I make arrangements this weekend.  Also share your present address.

Once again apologies for not returning it on time. I will definitely make it up to you at our next meeting. See you soon.

Much love,

Disha

ou recently made an outline purchase and the product was not the same as the description on the website

You recently made an online purchase and the product was not the same as the description on the website

  • Write an email/letter to website support in about 150-200 words
  • Write
  • What you purchased and when
  • Exactly how is the delivered good different from the one you ordered
  • How would you like the company to fix the problem

Dear sir,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction about the dress that I ordered from your website on 25th June. The image on the portal is of baby pink colour with beautiful silver work on the bottom, around the neck and on the sleeves. However, I received a totally different item.

With great exuberance I made online payment, but to my dismay, a red coloured dress was delivered. Not only the color differs, but also its fabric is of very poor quality with no fancy work. Also, it is over-size for me. I found it a complete waste of money.

I would like you to place the replacement before 2nd of July as the whole purpose for this purchase is to wear it for my birthday on 3rd  July. If replacement within this time period is not possible, I wish to receive reimbursement of the entire amount I paid. Hereby, I have attached an order receipt for your reference.

Looking forward to your prompt and considerate action.

Thanking you

Yours sincerely,

Disha

You were searching on the internet for a used car, and found one that looks like it is in good condition.

You were searching on the internet for a used car, and found one that looks like it is in good condition. The seller has posted a photo of the car, but has not provided any other details.
Write an email of about 150–200 words to the seller. Your email should do the following things:
Tell the seller how you found out about the car.
Ask about some specific details about the car.
Explain how much you are willing to pay for the car.
Request that the seller meet you so that you can test drive the car.

Dear Sir,
I am keen on buying the black Lincoln Executive, the picture of which you have posted for the sale on the car sale webportal. It seems to be in a fine condition and I am keen on buying it if it is within my budget. Thus, I request you to supply me with some details.

I have been looking for such a car for the last two years since it is in the limousine category and could serve my tour and travel business  efficiently. I am running a premium travel taxi and cab business and need a vehicle that is in a good condition to service my premium and elite clients.
Therefore, I would request you to kindly share  some information about the mileage, condition of interiors, performance and service records, also about the condition of tyres, and last but not the least, your last offer of  price since I may not be able to afford a too expensive model though I am willing to pay not more than CAD 30,000.
If things can work out, do inform me when I can come,  have a look, and test drive this vehicle.
Yours Sincerely
Donald Trump America Wale

You are going to another country for a period of 1 year and want to lease an apartment. Write a letter to an estate requesting them to arrange an appropriate accommodation

In the letter write

  • Introduce who you are
  • Why you are moving to the city
  • What kind of an apartment you want.

Dear Mr. Bernard,

I am Adolf Hitler, and got your reference from your website which tells me that you are an experienced real estate dealer in Bronx Park, New York, so I wish to seek your assistance in arranging a three-bedroom apartment for me and my family since my organization, Gestapo has transferred me to this city for a period of one year.

Being a Manager in this company, I am entitled to disbursement of the lease amount, so I can afford a bigger accommodation though the budget may be limited to $3000 per month, that could be an independent  unit with a big lawn in the front yard, and also have a garage since I would be provided a personal car.

The location of this unit should be near a park: I have two children who love to spend evenings in green areas. Thus, if such a location could be found, it would make our stay comfortable.

Anticipating a quick response with a price list and terms and conditions.

Thanking you,

Yours Sincerely,

Adolf Hitler.

  • In your letter
  • Explain why you want to volunteer
  • State what your skills   and experience are
  • Where you would like to volunteer and for how long

Dear Sir,

I am keen on getting an opportunity to offer free services to one of the endeavors undertaken by NGO Salvation. I carry a significant exposure in working for children of underprivileged  class and would like to continue working.

I hold a qualification in social support service, which has given me an adequate knowhow of how to approach problems being faced by various strata of the society. Besides this, I have been working as a free lance volunteer for the last 6 years.

Over these years, I have travelled extensively to countries such as India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, where I worked in close coordination with various free volunteers, helping establish informal education networks so that poor of these regions could be enlightened about the usefulness of education, and also be inspired about enlisting their children to schools. I am willing to offer my services in this region for next one year, as I am on a vacation.

In addition to that, I was also a part of 'Disaster relief Management' in Chennai, India for two years where I helped the poverty-stricken to be rescued during massive floods to rehabilitate them.

I hope you would consider my request  and offer me a chance to work with you.

Thanking you

Your Sincerely,

Adolf Hitler

You recently went to see a good play at a theatre, but you did not enjoy it because of some problems in the theatre.

Write a letter to the manager of the theatre. In your letter:

say which play you saw and when

describe the problems you experienced in the theatre

suggest what the manager should do

Dear sir,

I watched the play Hamlet written by William Shakespeare in your theatre, which was enacted on 25th of this month. I purchased an evening show ticket for myself to relax after having a long day, but to my disappointment, technical glitches were there throughout the act.

To start with, spotlight was always positioned at the wrong place, which left me perplexed most of the times as it was very difficult to make out who on the stage is actually speaking. To add injury to insult, the sound system was not functioning properly. Time and again, a buzzing sound was echoing in the hall which made it more arduous to understand.

I would suggest you make arrangements at the earliest to fix these problems with the spotlight, or hire a new technician to handle it. Also audio quality requires urgent attention. If possible upgrade or replace the present system so as to avoid further discomfort caused to the audience.

Hoping that you will see my suggestions in a positive light.

Yours truly,
